Estonian language update

I am working with Estonian language; hopefully, I will send an updated translation in a week! Thank you for all the support! Here is a small job on my private server, made with this program. NB! Not for distribution, recorded from ETV-HD via Dreambox (DVB-T2 local terrestrial TV)

Cut with TS-Doctor to the desired length, analyzed, converted to mp4, then fade-in and fade-out using DaVinci Resolve.

That was a really nice offer from you — you seem to understand the words? But no, it's like always, a love song, made well before the Artemis 2 mission. Still, the lyrics and melody are very beautiful, and this particular performance isn't very common here, as it's a fairly recent release.

I also added another recording from the same folder, made on Sunday by the Estonian Gospel Choir — a very beautiful and well-produced recording from the same free channel.

What I also noticed myself is that the cut points really do end up a bit jerky without processing. But when I run it through FFmpeg using

.\ffmpeg.exe -i filename.ts -c:v libx264 -crf 18 -preset medium -c:a aac -b:a 192k filename.mp4

I get a good result that I can further edit in DaVinci Resolve (fade-in and fade-out). And the program does surprisingly good work, plus it has a completely free version available!

The translation is not finalized yet, but it already includes a number of corrected phrases as well as new, previously untranslated entries.
I will let you know once it is fully completed, but you are welcome to use this version as well if you work with interim versions.

I am adding here German phrases translated with the help of ChatGPT into Estonian and also into English.

I will personally review and refine the Estonian translations and upload them shortly. The English version, however, serves as a reference for many of us, and I hope the developer(s) (Cypheros) can easily review it and include it if suitable.

Added many previously untranslated items with the help of ChatGPT, so most of it is now translated. I also improved some of the existing translated phrases.

The translation is now essentially finished. Maybe a few phrases will need to be adjusted afterwards.

This translation has now been completed with the help of ChatGPT. For this version, the work is considered finished and thoroughly reviewed within the application.

The updated translation will be included in the next software release, and no further changes are planned at this stage.

I successfully tested DVB subtitle conversion using TS-Doctor and created a workflow that works very well.

Workflow:

DVB-S/S2 .TS recording
TS-Doctor → "Extract DVB subtitles (SRT format)"
generated .SRT subtitle file
MKVToolNix GUI → combining the .TS and .SRT into a single .MKV file

Important note:
In MKVToolNix, it is important to carefully check the track selection checkboxes so that only the desired video/audio/subtitle tracks are included.

Also:
When entering the output filename, do not add the ".mkv" extension manually, because MKVToolNix adds it automatically.

The result was a universal .MKV file with working Estonian subtitles that can be played correctly in standard Windows media players.

A particularly nice result was that Estonian special characters (õ/ä/ö/ü) were preserved correctly in the OCR-converted SRT subtitles.

I found an interesting language handling issue while testing DVB subtitle conversion and MKV creation in MKVToolnix.

Workflow used:

DVB-S/S2 .TS recording
TS-Doctor → "Extract DVB subtitles (SRT format)"
MKVToolNix GUI → adding the generated .SRT subtitles into a new .MKV file

Observation:

When I drag the original .TS file into MKVToolNix GUI, the DVB subtitle tracks are detected correctly with their language identifiers:

Estonian (est)
Latvian (lav)
Lithuanian (lit)

However, when I drag the OCR-generated .SRT subtitle file into MKVToolNix GUI, the subtitle language is automatically set to:

Undetermined (und)

In addition, the MKVToolNix language selection list does not offer:

Estonian (et; est)
Latvian (lv; lav)
Lithuanian (lt; lit)

Interestingly, Russian (ru; rus) is available in the list.

This seems a bit inconsistent because the original DVB subtitle tracks inside the .TS file are recognized correctly by MKVToolNix.

It appears that the backend already supports these language codes, but the GUI language selection list may be missing the Baltic language entries for manually added subtitle files such as .SRT.
