Hi!

I have recordings of a few shows which were made by a mediabox of the Hungarian Direct One sat TV provider.
The recordings are being recorded to a linux ext formatted filesystem, and their files are visible, containing the date, channel name and sometimes the program title.
The mediabox produces several different kinds of files for each recording (11 files, some outside the recording's directory), but the media file itself is probably the one with the TRP extension, as thats always the biggest, though sometimes there are other sizable files besides it (e.g. 300 MB besides an 1+ GB TRP).

Of course, the TRP file can not be played either with VLC or MPV.

However when I load it into TS Doctor, the software hangs and maxes out a CPU core. It does not write any error messages, the logger window is empty too, and if I leave it running for a few hours it will still be doing the same thing.
I was using TS Doctor 4.1.2

Can you help me to find out whats the problem?
I realize this is probably little information to be able to tell the cause, but if I can give more information please let me know.

Do you get any messages from TS-Doctor if you open the file? If the file is encrypted, TS-Doctor should show a message.

Please use MediaInfo under Tools to check the format of the TRP file and post it.

Could you use the TS RawCutter under Tools to make a exact copy of the first 10 to 20 MBytes of the TRP file?

If you send us an email with that sample file and we will check it and keep you informed.

Hi!

Sorry for being so late. It was a busy week.
Today I have uninstalled and reinstalled TS Doctor (possibly a newer version, if you have released one since then), and it now did not freeze when opening the file. It started processing it as expected.

Right now PID scan has a red X mark, and an error dialog says "File is encrypted. Process aborted! DVB [188 bytes]", so I guess there is nothing we can do, right?

You can try to open the file with TS Packet Viewer under "Tools/Expert Tools" and check if you can find an unencrypted area.

If you can find an unencrypted area, you could try to skip the encrypted part at the beginning by using "File/Open trimmed".

I did not find unencrypted data, at least in the way I was looking for it: there was no readable text in the hex viewer, but I dont know if that is to be expected or not.

I have not found tooltips or documentation for this tool, so I'll word what I have found bluntly to not mislead you with things I assume.

Most of the tiles are in the error line. Most of them are red without a letter in them.

The "transport_scrambling_control" field is often "scrambled with Even key", or Odd in place of Even, sometimes the whole value is just "reserved", and sometimes it is "no scrambling".
All variants seem to occur with an equal chance, but this is just by feeling.

Sometimes the data seems to have structure, like in these cases:

Du darfst in diesem Board keine Dateianhänge sehen.

Du darfst in diesem Board keine Dateianhänge sehen.

When going forward by clicking the AF button, sometimes I can see tiles in other rows, like here:

Du darfst in diesem Board keine Dateianhänge sehen.

By going forward with the PCR button, sometimes I see single green tiles, but these are always marked with "A".

With the Disc. button, the tool marks discontinutities mostly near A-marked tiles, but sometimes in the middle of unmarked red tiles, and even rarer A-marked green tiles.

The Err button steps one tile at a tile, but thats probably expected in this case.

Sorry but it looks like your mediabox has encrypted the file.
